MISSION

The Policy Council (TPC) is dedicated to the safety and security of Florida’s children, consumers, and businesses.  We believe safe homes, schools and workplaces will lead to a higher quality of life for every member of society, no matter their cultural, ethnic or economic background.  Our strategy for promoting these principles relies on blending research, policy development, and political action.

TPC is led by its Chairman, Eric Criss.  Mr. Criss has over twenty years of experience in leadership, policy, associations and political campaigns.  Through cooperative research projects with the academic community, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations, TPC helps to enhance the quality of life for all Americans by strengthening the five pillars of our future.  Unlike many policy oriented organizations, TPC is not afraid to get “in the arena” and provide financial support to candidates for public office who believe, like we do, that the safety and security of their constituents should be their top priority.

TPC has targeted five areas of public policy that are all too often restricted to separate “silos.” The first pillar is revitalizing Florida’s economy.  Without a home and a source of income, no family can be considered “secure.” The second pillar is consumer safety, including food, drugs, alcohol, toys, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), and other products used in and around the home.  Our third pillar is homeland security, including protecting Florida’s ports, rail, and tourist attractions from homegrown radical Jihadism and “lone wolf” acts of politically motivated violence.  A fourth pillar is disaster preparedness, including hurricanes, wildfires, tornados and other dangerous events. The fifth and final pillar is personal responsibility.  This includes keeping our bodies and minds healthy through proactive steps such as good eating habits and exercise, but also not engaging in activity that would endanger ourselves, our families or others.  Activities we seek to discourage include the use of illegal drugs, inappropriate use of prescription medication, combining prescription drugs with alcohol, underage drinking, and drinking and driving.
